Message The resultant compression is a result of: compression ratio, volumetric efficiency (how well the valves and heads flow air), temperature, and vacuum or boost pressure in the intake. It's just now as simple as that formula makes it seem. There are other factors as well, such as the horsepower it takes to "suck" air into the cylinders, vs the restriction that the turbos place on the exhaust.
